Official Army Body Fat Calculator
The Army Body Composistion Program (ABCP) uses specific measurements to estimate body fat percentage. If a soldier exceeds the screening table weight for their height, they must pass the "Tape Test" calculated here.
How to Measure
- Height: Standing straight, without shoes.
- Neck: Just below the larynx (Adam's apple).
- Waist (Male): At the navel (belly button).
- Waist (Female): At the narrowest point of the abdomen.
- Hips (Female): At the widest protrusion of the gluteal muscles.
Army Standards
Standards vary by age and gender. Generally, younger soldiers are required to maintain a lower body fat percentage than older soldiers. Failure to meet these standards can result in administrative action.
help FAQ
Is this the new ACFT standard?
Yes, this calculator uses the standard circumference-based method referenced in AR 600-9 for body composition compliance.
How accurate is the tape test?
The tape test is an estimation. While it is the official Army method, hydostatic weighing or DXA scans are scientifically more accurate but less accessible.
